Members of the Southeast Hardin Northwest Union Fire District paid tribute Monday to Chief Charles Mowery for his 50 years with the department. Mowery has been chief of the fire department stationed in Mount Victory for 29 years. Members of the department were joined by township and village officials in honoring Mowery’s service.
Navy veterans Commander Jay Garcia and Command Brad Steele, both of Kenton lead the annual Memorial Day parade to Grove Cemetery in Kenton. The warm, dry weather brought a large crowd out for this year’s parade and memorial services.
Jonathan Haslop salutes the American flag after placing a wreath in Veteran’s Circle in memory of the area veterans who give their lives in the Korean War. Services at Grove Cemetery also included the laying of wreaths at the GAR memorial.
