Early voting higher than normal for mid-terms

The number of people who have cast early ballots in the Nov. 6 general election in Hardin County is more than normal for a mid-term election, Board of Elections Director Sandra Bookmyer told the Times this morning. She reported as the office opened on Monday morning, there have been 635 people come to the office to vote and another 1,617 have mailed in their ballots at this point.

Cross and Harshfield to square off for opening at Statehouse

Republican Jon Cross of Kenton and Democrat Mary Harshfield of Findlay are vying for the 83rd District seat in the Ohio House of Representatives in the Nov. 6 election. The winner will replace Rep. Robert Cole Sprague, who is vying for the state treasurer’s office. The 83rd District encompasses all of Hardin and Hancock counties, and part of Logan County.

Workforce and drug crisis discussed by area leaders

ADA — How their communities are addressing the drug crisis impacting the workforce was discussed by three economic development professionals during a forum at Ohio Northern University on Thursday night. Featured were Jon Cross, president and CEO of the Hardin County Chamber and Business Alliance; Jeff Sprague, president and CEO of Allen County-Allen Economic Development Group and Dan Sheaffer, project specialist with Findlay-Hancock County Economic Development.

Two Democrats to speak at ONU Town Hall

ADA — The Ohio Northern University College Democrats will be hosting two candidates at a Town Hall on Tuesday, Oct. 30 at 6 p.m. in the ONU Dicke College of Business, announced President Sarah Hasan. Speaking will be Ron Eastman, Democratic candidate for Hardin County Commissioner and Adam Papin, Democratic candidate for Ohio Senate District 1. The public is invited.

Husted encourages Republicans to vote

As the race to become Ohio's next governor enters its final two weeks, Jon Husted, who is running for Lt. Governor on the ticket with Mike DeWine, encouraged Hardin County Republicans to get out the vote for their candidate. "There is a lot at stake in this election," Husted told the Republicans at their headquarters in Kenton on Monday.
