Production of ‘The Music Man’ opens July 13 at Marion Palace

MARION – More than 70 individuals will take the stage in the production of “The Music Man” July 13-July 21 at the historic Marion Palace Theatre. Directed by Clare Cooke, the musical comedy will be performed on five show dates: Saturday, July 13 at 7:30 p.m.; Sunday, July 14 at 2 p.m.; Friday, July 19 at 7:30 p.m.; Saturday, July 20 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, July 21 at 2 p.m.

Eight finalists named to vie for post of music director of Lima Symphony

The Lima Symphony Orchestra has announced the eight finalists vying for the position of music director for the Lima Symphony Orchestra. The LSO Search Committee, composed of LSO musicians, the choral director, board members and community representatives, have narrowed down these eight from a field of over 120 highly qualified international applicants. Each of the final eight will be featured in Lima Symphony Orchestra’s “Focus Forward” season and spend a week in Lima not only rehearsing and conducting the orchestra in concert, but also doing in-school visits, children’s programming at the library and more as they audition for the community at large.

Bluffton U. to present ‘Guys and Dolls’

BLUFFTON —Bluffton University will present “Guys and Dolls,” for the May Day musical on May 3-4 at 7:30 p.m. in Founders Hall. “Guys and Dolls” depicts gambler Nathan Detroit, who is seeking cash to set up the biggest craps game in town, but both the authorities and his fiancé of 14 years are breathing down his neck. When Detroit makes a bet with a fellow gambler’s love life, this oddball romantic comedy takes us from Times Square to Cuba to the sewers of New York City.
