The weather didn't cooperate at this year's Hardin County Fair. The week started off with sweltering heat and ended in a muddy mess. In the end, the band showcase was the only paid event that took place in the grandstands. Harness racing went on as scheduled but was admission-free. The tractor pull, demolition derby and Dylan Scott concert were canceled because of the rainy conditions for safety reasons, said Grandstand Committee Chairman Rob Wilson.

The Hardin County Junior Fair Livestock Sale generated nearly $400,000 for the young sellers on Saturday. Market premium and add-ons totaled $398,031, according to results provided by the livestock sale committee.

Participants brought home awards at the dairy show, Wednesday at the 2018 Hardin County Fair.

Top awards were given to the winners of the Arts and Crafts division of the Hardin County Fair.

Winners of the Hardin County Fair's Pie Day contest were announced on Saturday.

The champion garden club container was grown by Kathy Born of Kenton on behalf of the Dunkirk Garden Club and is displayed by fellow members Wendy Morin (left) and Rhonda Pees.

Nine-year-old Lydia Johnson (left) proudly holds the first place rosette she earned at Pie Day Saturday at the Hardin County Fair with her peach pie entry. Second place in the contest went to Janet Jones with Colleen Collins taking home third-place honors and Elaine Hoover coming in fourth.

Brenda Burns was the winner of a rain barrel at the Keep Hardin County Beautiful booth at the Hardin County Fair.
