The Hardin County Junior Fair Livestock Sale on Saturday had total sales of $427,234, according to a report submitted by Don Spar, sale chairman. That total is down slightly from last year’s $431,435. The 373 buyers in the sale gave the 420 young sellers $232,100 in premiums above the market price for their animals. Representatives of Marathon Pipe Line said the pipeline project from Harpster to Lima will be completed by the end of the week, meeting the July 1 goal.
During visits with area media on Tuesday, they said work to commission the line’s ending point at the Husky Refinery in Lima still is being completed, but is expected to be done by Friday.
The Kenton-Hardin County Health Department has approached the county commissioners about getting more space.
Commissioner Roger Crowe told the health board at its meeting Tuesday night that the commissioners have retained a Findlay company to conduct a study to see what can be done to better utilize the space the department works out of in the courthouse annex.
The number of participants and households in Hardin County using nutrition assistance programs has been on the decline over the past year.
County households taking part in supplemental nutrition assistance programs (food stamps) in May was 1,446, which is down by 90 from a year ago and the lowest it has been since June 2010, according to numbers presented to the Hardin County Commissioners on Tuesday during an update by Job and Family Services Director Barb Maxson.
