Older Ohioans advised to have fire escape plan

COLUMBUS – Older adults can be at higher risk for death from a home fire due to physical changes and homes that were not designed for their changing needs, among other factors. Oct. 6-12 is National Fire Prevention Week. The Ohio Department of Aging and the State Fire Marshal’s office encourage older Ohioans to create and practice a plan for surviving a fire in their homes.

Choral Boosters gather

The Kenton Choral Boosters met on Tuesday, Oct. 8 at 6 p.m. in Kenton High School Library. Members present were Sue Bailey - president, Chad Spencer - vice president, Mathew Ketcham, Wanda Horner – secretary, Vanessa Bell, Marge Cannode and Todd Daquino, choral director.

DeMolay chapter to meet

Simon Kenton Chapter, International Order of DeMolay, will be holding its first meeting and initiation in more than 35 years on Saturday, Oct. 12 at 7:30 p.m. All Senior DeMolays and Masons are invited to attend. Dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m.

Grange news report: October 8, 2019

Painter Creek Community Grange members gathered Thursday, Oct. 3 at the hall. Family activities chair Jean Dirkson reminded members of the wiener roast next meeting, Oct. 17. It was voted to have it at 6:30 with families bringing their own hotdogs, buns and a covered dish to share. She reminded members that Pomona has been moved up a week to Oct. 12 at Greenwood Grange due to State Grange Convention being Oct. 17-20.
