Byroads & Bygones: Walk among the tombstones: A tour through Grove Cemetery

In 1854, a group of over 13 men came together to form a cemetery association. While there were several smaller cemeteries around Kenton during this period, it was becoming increasingly clear that there needed to be larger, more permanent solution to where to lay the deceased to rest. The men on the board included Daniel Barron, James S. Robinson, William L. Walker, and Hugh Letson, all prominent men in the city and all men who would play a role in the development of Kenton’s future.

Live life to the fullest: Bring Your Bible to School Day

Bring Your Bible to School Day is celebrated on October 3rd. Oh, how I loved going to Sunday school when I was younger. I loved singing the songs: “The B-I-B-L-E, yes that’s the book for me,” “I’ve got the joy, joy, joy, joy, down in my heart, where?,” “This little light of mine, I’m going to let it shine.” I could keep going, but you get the idea about absolutely loving the songs. I also loved that we got to make crafts and earned stickers each week for just attending. Many times, there were even snacks. Another thing I really liked about going to Sunday school is that we got to read the Bible and learn valuable life lessons from it. I might not have realized how valuable the lessons were at the time, but looking back I realize now how those Bible lessons helped to shape me into the person that I am today.
