Minerva begins new club year

Minerva Club began the new club year Monday evening with a meeting at the home of Laurie Steinman with 19 members present. President Judi Candler opened the meeting with the reading of “My Everyday Thanksgiving” by Rittenhouse. After roll call, the minutes of the May meeting were read and approved.

Honored horseman

Stephanie Sheldon presents A.J. Eckard of the Ridgemont FFA with the sportsmanship Al Martin Memorial placard during the Hardin County Fair. The award is named in honor of Al Martin, Stephanie's grandfather, who was active in the 4-H prior to his death and also assisted with the construction of the horse barn.

Godwin/Hughes family has reunion

The 98th Godwin/Hughes family reunion was held Aug. 4 at the Community Park in Mount Victory. There were about 40 family and friends in attendance who enjoyed a picnic meal at 1 p.m. Families came from Belle-vue, Wash., Dorsey, Ill., Albany, Ind., and many from Ohio.

Walnut Grove Mission Society meets

The Walnut Grove Mission Society met at Mr. Cheezy’s on Tuesday, Sept. 10 at 11 a.m. Cheryl Reese gave the blessing before lunch was enjoyed by all. Mary Lou Adams read I Thessalonians 5:23 and a devotional reading. She shared articles about what people ate in Biblical times and a look at the food and feasts of Jesus. She closed with Habakkuk 3:17-18 and a devotional reading from “Finding Gods Peace and Joy”.
