Scholarships will be offered this year to area students interested in health related fields of study. Applications are now being accepted for the 30th annual Mary Lou Johnson Health Career Scholarships, which are available through the Hardin Memorial Hospital Foundation.

The Hardin Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) will be taking orders for tree seedlings and bare root transplants through Feb. 28, 2019. The seedlings for sale are: Whitespire Birch, Sugar Maple, Northern Red Oak, Black Walnut, Arborvitae, Colorado Blue Spruce, Norway Spruce and Eastern White Pine. Each specie is sold in bundles of 10 each.

GROVE CITY, Pa. — Noah Allen of Ada, a senior computer science major at Grove City College, has been named to the Dean’s List for the Fall 2018 semester by maintaining a grade point average of 3.40 to 3.59. A 2015 home school graduate, he is the son of Rev. Patrick and Debra Allen of Ada.

The Kenton Band Boosters met on Monday, Jan. 7 at 6 p.m. in the high school media center. Attendees were Judy Donnal, president; Sarah Zickafoose, vice president; Katie Ketcham, treasurer; Amy Kohl, secretary; Travis Wissman, band director; Ashlee Dawson, majorette advisor, and parents/volunteers Wanda Horner, Marge Cannode, Vanessa Bell and Kathy Forester. Judy Donnal called the meeting to order.

Ada Kiwanis Club met on Tuesday, Jan. 8 at noon at the New China Restaurant, downtown Ada. Club President-Elect Marlene Hoorman presided at the meeting. The invocation was offered by Jon Umphress.

Organizers are looking for team members, event leaders, event sponsors and vendors to participate in the annual Relay For Life of Hardin County. The next Relay For Life planning meeting will be held on Jan. 16 at 5:30 p.m. at Harco Industries in Kenton.

The Tuesday Afternoon Shoot the Moon Club met Jan. 8 at the Kenton Elks with members enjoying lunch. Winners were Joyce Hunt, Janice Shepherd, Judy Sallee, Donna Myers and Barb Roof.

Kenton High School will be hosting its annual penny stall to raise money for a local family in partnership with the swim team. The event will be held the week of Jan. 22-25.
