A meal is served at 11:15 a.m. weekdays for people ages 60 and older at the Hardin County Council on Aging in Kenton. Meals are for donation only. Meal reservations are required 24 hours in advance by calling the Council on Aging, 419-673-1102.

Parents Robert and Kelly Carder of Kenton announce the accomplishments of their son Ethan Carder in his journey to becoming a veterinarian. Ethan just recently received two-year full-ride scholarship awarded to Ohio State veterinary student through a donation from Dr. and Mrs. C. Richard Beckett who was the pioneer of the pre-veterinary medicine program at the University of Findlay and an OSU College of Veterinary Medicine alumni.

The Tuesday Afternoon Shoot the Moon Club met Dec. 18 at the Elks with members enjoying lunch. Winners were Donna Myers, Joyce Hunt, Judy Sallee, Betty McCune and Tammy Wright.

Kenton-Hardin County Soroptimist International congratulates Club 250 winner Amy Aulthouse for week 2. She will receive $100. Club 250 is a fundraiser that helps to award scholarships to local women and girls.

DUNKIRK — The Hardin Northern Public Library will be closed Monday, Dec. 24 and Tuesday, Dec. 25 to observe the Christmas holiday. Regular hours will resume Wednesday, Dec. 26.

One eighth grade student and one sixth grade student went head to head in the championship round of the Benjamin Logan Middle School Spelling Bee on Friday, Dec. 14. Eighth grader Isaac Napier spelled the word “espionage” correctly to win the match.

The Ohio Knit Wits held their annual Christmas dinner and fundraiser on Dec. 11 at the home of Jan Aller. Each member brought a covered dish and gifts for the raffle fund raiser. There were 14 members and one guest, Rosemary Kemp, niece of Jane Furbush attending the event.
