The Quilt Squares will meet Wednesday, June 6 at the Bridgeport Church Fellowship Hall starting at 1 p.m. Anyone interested in quilts or the art of quilting is invited to join in for an afternoon of quilting and fellowship.

DUNKIRK — The Exotic Zoo will be at the Hardin Northern Public Library at 2 p.m. on Tuesday June 5. Durin the educational wildlife animal program, guests will see and learn about animals that are not native to this area.

The YMCA will be holding its 3rd Annual Free Family Fishing Day on Saturday, June 9 from 10 a.m. to noon at Boy Scout Lake in Veterans Memorial Park, east of Kenton. The event is sponsored by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources Division of Wildlife and is open to the public.

Usually, when we think about prayer we think about it in terms of praying and then waiting until God answers or doesn’t answer. We pray and hope that God will hear our voice. And since God can be anywhere, since we do not see God, it often feels lonely.

The public is invited to come enjoy the Monarch butterfly garden at the Hardin County YMCA in Kenton and watch the lifecycle of the Monarch now through September. It is located behind the Y in Kenton. In March the YMCA received a grant from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources to enhance its Monarch butterfly garden and educate children and adults about the Monarch, according to Paulette McCulley, finance manager at the Y.

ATHENS — Kaitlin E. Hicks of Alger, Ohio, was among the students who received a doctor of osteopathic medicine (D.O.) degree from Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine at the college’s May 12 commencement exercises.

The weekly meeting of the Ada Kiwanis Club was call to order by President Jack Jeffery at 12:01 p.m. on Tuesday May 29 in the Dean’s Heritage Room, McIntosh Center, Ohio Northern University. There were no guests present at the meeting.
