University Club II offers college scholarship

Each year the University Club II awards a scholarship to a junior or senior college student who is a resident of Hardin County. Applications for this scholarship will be available Jan. 2, 2018 at the following Hardin County libraries: Ada Public Library in Ada, USV Public Library in Alger, Hardin Northern Public Library in Dunkirk, Forest Jackson Public Library in Forest, Mary Lou Johnson Library in Kenton, and Ridgemont Public Library in Mount Victory and Ridgeway.

Alger group plans Saturday breakfast

ALGER — The Alger Memorial Festival Committee is sponsoring a country-style breakfast from 7 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 6 at the Alger Social Center, 210 N. Main St. On the menu are biscuits, sausage gravy, hash browns, scrambled eggs, fried apples, sausage patties and beverage for a suggested donation of $7.

Jamboree slated for New Year’s Eve

MOUNT VICTORY — The Victory Jamboree will hold its New Year’s Eve – End of the Year celebration from 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 30 at the Community Building, 234 N. Washington St., Mount Victory. Doors open at 4 p.m. The event will have a carry-in supper – bring your own service.
