The American Red Cross reminds eligible donors are that giving blood during National Preparedness Month in September is one way to help ensure the Red Cross is prepared to respond to patient emergencies across the country every day.

The Hardin County Council on Aging Senior Center celebrated Grandparents Day by playing Bingo and enjoying ice cream sundaes. They also had a discussion about being grandparents.

ADA — National Falls Prevention Awareness Day will be observed on Friday and the Ohio Northern University Chapter of American Society of Consultant Pharmacists (ASCP) will be holding a Falls Prevention Day walk on the tundra at ONU.

Learn the difference between normal memory slips and dementia at a special free program, “Know the 10 Signs: Early Detection Matters,” to be offered Monday, Sept. 25, from 2 to 3 p.m. at HardinCrest Apartments, 900 E. Columbus St., Kenton.

A noon meal is served for people ages 60 and older at the Hardin County Council on Aging in Kenton, 419-673-1102, at 11:30 a.m. weekdays. Transportation and meal reservations are required 24 hours in advance.

Jim and Judi Candler of Ridgeway are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary. They were married on Saturday, Sept. 23, 1967 at the First Methodist Church in Kenton by the Rev. Virgil Hair.

Tri-Moraine Audubon Society is celebrating its 40th anniversary as a chartered chapter of the National Audubon Society beginning in June 1977. The group’s mission is “to promote the conservation and restoration of ecosystems, including agricultural systems, while focusing on the enjoyment of birds and the natural environment through fellowship, education, and stewardship for future generations.”

The Hardin County Area Chapter of the Weston A. Price Foundation will meet Thursday, Sept. 28 at 7 p.m. at the Forbing Community Center, 122 N. Main St., Kenton. “The Perfect Storm” will be presented by pediatric expert Dr. Travis Elsass.
