The First United Methodist Church women would like to thank the public for supporting their annual cookie walk this past December. The money raised was given to five charities: Helping Hands (Deanna Wages), Kids Club and Youth (FUMC), Heartbeat of Hardin County, Soup Kitchen and Helping Hands (FUMC).

The Kenton Lions club met Jan. 18 at Henry’s Restaurant with 12 members in attendance. Lion Third Vice President Bob Burgbacher led in the Pledge and the prayer.

The Ada Academic Boosters, in conjunction with the Ada Music Boosters, will host the 5th Annual Purse and Jewelry Fundraiser on Sunday, Feb. 19 at 2 p.m. in the McIntosh Ballroom on the ONU campus in Ada. Admission tickets are $25 presale and $30 at the door.

Kelli (Sprang) and USAF Staff Sergeant Michael Hoff of Huber Heights are parents of an 8-pound, 14-ounce, 21 1/2-inch girl, Madeline Ann “Maddi,” born at 8:10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2017 at Wright-Patterson Medical Center, Dayton.

A barn built more than 100 years ago is getting a new lease on life. The Burnison family constructed what is now the farm museum of the Hardin County Historical Museums after the original structure was destroyed in a fire in 1914.

ADA — Ada Schools has released the honor roll for the second nine weeks of the 2016-2017 school year.

FOREST — The Forest-Jackson Public Library will be showing two movies on Friday, Jan. 27. The matinee movie, “Brian’s Song” will begin at 1 p.m.

YOUNGSTOWN — Two area students attending Youngstown State University have been named to the Dean’s List for Fall Semester 2016. They are John Rembis of Kenton, an advertising and public relations major; and Brooke Stewart of Mount Victory, a pre-dental hygiene major.
