HARROD — Arlington jumped on top of Hardin Northern early and was able to coast through the second half for a 61-25 girls basketball victory in a Division IV sectional semifinal game at Allen East High School on Wednesday night. The Red Devils, who were led by Lindsay Dodds’ 18-point effort, jumped ahead 22-6 after eight minutes and 44-11 at halftime. A three-pointer by Sarah Solt on the Red Devils first possession of the third quarter pushed their lead over 35 points and forced a running clock for the remainder of the game.

A quick three inches of snow Wednesday morning made it difficult for some motorists to climb the hill on South Detroit Street in Kenton near the Hardin County Courthouse. The driver of the red car gave up, asked her passenger to have the cars behind her to back up as she backed onto Ohio Street, where she got stuck again and was pushed out by a passer-by.

COLDWATER — Lima Central Catholic outscored Riverdale 12-0 in the third quarter to pull away for a 63-46 victory in a Division IV sectional semifinal game at Coldwater on Tuesday night. Faith Jenkins netted 17 points and had 7 rebounds and 3 assists to lead the No. 8 seeded Gophers, who kept the game close in the first half, trailing 15-11 after eight minutes and 33-29 at halftime before being shut out in the third quarter.

Osborne adds Alger administrator role to community services

Already a Marion Township trustee, a member of the McGuffey Conservation Club, a board member for the Alger Public Library, a graphic designer and pastor of Immanuel Baptist Church in Lima, Paul recently added Alger Village Administrator to his list of services to the community.

Community members gathered Saturday afternoon in Kenton to assemble blankets for the 2019 National Project Linus "Make a Blanket Day." Haley Sprang, chapter coordinator for Hardin County, said at least 25 tie blankets and others were expected to be completed during the event.

Eikenbary claims 220-pound WBL title

WAPAKONETA — Noah Eikenbary won all three of his matches to claim the 220-pound championship at the Western Buckeye League wrestling tournament on Saturday. Eikenbary, a junior who was second last year and fourth in 2017, becomes the fourth Wildcat wrestler to win a league title, joining Dylan Castle (2015), Gabe King (2009) and Chris Arnold (2009).
