Wildcats rally past Shawnee into first-ever district final

ELIDA — The Kenton soccer team will get the rematch with Elida that it has been seeking. The Wildcats rallied from a 1-0 deficit on Monday, as pushes toward the net by Hayden Hicks in the second 40 minutes led to a penalty kick goal and an own goal by a Shawnee defender that allowed Kenton to pull out a 2-1 win over the Indians in district semifinal action at Elida.

Newman to end 33-year career at Kenton library

This Friday, Sharon Newman will be putting her last book back on the shelf at the Mary Lou Johnson-Hardin County District Library in Kenton. After 33 years, Newman, the library’s assistant director/technology coordinator, will be retiring to spend more quality time visiting her daughter Lindsay and her family in California, as well as some more time in her pool.

McGUFFEY — As Upper Scioto Valley’s Kolton Keith stays after school to practice with his team this coming week, he knows next Friday night will be his last game as a Ram. The end of an athlete’s high school career is normally difficult on the student and his parents, but it will be an especially bittersweet experience for Jerry and Jade Keith.
