In recent months, John and Kriss Brien’s Peck-N-Coop Farm offered homegrown meats and eggs to local customers, but the couple’s focus is shifting to growing the farm values of hard work, responsibility and discipline in young men who are lacking those qualities.

Nine years ago, Larry Gossard of Kenton had never heard of neurofibronatosis. In fact, he said, he couldn’t even pronounce it. But after his son, Bryce, was born with the condition, Gossard not only learned to say the word, but has continued to share information with anyone who will listen.

ADA — Ada Police Department Patrolman John Iten was presented with the department’s Life-Saving Award at Tuesday’s council meeting for helping to save the life of a local resident.

Improved access to city services and more room for Kenton offices and storage is the result of the city’s acquisition of the former Mid-Ohio Energy Cooperative building. Beginning at noon on Monday, the city’s water, income tax, and parks and recreation offices will open at the new building, temporarily known as the “555 Building” for its location at 555 W. Franklin St.

A crew from Shelly Company is widening Letson Avenue at its intersection with U.S. 68 on Tuesday morning. Kenton Safety Service Director Jim Hites announced that paving was to begin there today.

For Bob Halsey, his clown persona “Tater” is all about making people laugh, which is what makes everything for him worthwhile. “I just love to perform and I love to make people happy,” said Halsey, of Kenton.

Kenton Elementary students take off on a half-mile fun run as part of the Pumpkin Run sponsored by the school’s PTO on Saturday morning. The fun run was followed by a 5K run for older students and adults.

When Debbie Breidenbach decided to put her Royal Duchess Beauty Salon on the market two years ago, she sought help from a higher source. After all, the salon on North Detroit Street in Kenton had been a huge part of her life for 45 years. She was close to her neighbors at the location and wanted the building to be used to better the community.
