Lima Symphony to kick off new season

LIMA — The Lima Symphony Orchestra kicks off a new season in search of their next conductor at the Veterans Memorial Civic Center in Lima on Saturday, Oct. 12 at 7:30 p.m. Conducting finalist Nadège Foofat, accompanied by baritone soloist Jeremiah Sanders, will lead the orchestra in a program that is both fresh and nostalgic featuring Songs For Our New World.

UF to host ‘Pioneers of Rock-n-Soul’ show

FINDLAY — Billy Buchanan’s “Pioneers of Rock-n-Soul” show is set for 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 12 at the University of Findlay. It will be at Winebrenner Building’s TLB Auditorium. Tickets are $15 each at the door. Buchanan’s nonstop, no-holds-barred performance, which will include a live band, channels soul greats such as Ray Charles, Sam Cooke, Chuck Berry, Little Richard, and other icons.

Entertainment opportunities abound at Marion Palace

MARION — October offers entertainment seekers plenty to do at the historic Marion Palace Theatre. Five separate live events are scheduled to take place. Main stage events include a Disney junior musical and a tribute to the music of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons; while the Pavilion will serve as the location for a night of improv comedy, music and wine tasting event, and a family friendly Halloween bash.

‘Dancing History’ to demonstrate period dance at Ohio Northern

ADA – The Ohio Northern University Department of Theatre Arts will present a lecture demonstration, “Dancing History,” at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 28 in the Freed Center for the Performing Arts. Guest artist and dance historian Thomas Baird has been on campus working with ONU students to develop historical dance techniques. Audiences can expect to witness changes of period dance styles, dress and music.

‘James and the Giant Peach’ slated

FINDLAY – Roald Dahl’s fantastical tale of a boy, his insect friends and their amazing journey across the ocean on a giant piece of fruit, sets sail on Oct. 4 and 5 in Findlay. Performances of the family-friendly musical “James and the Giant Peach” will be at 7 p.m. Oct. 4 and 2 p.m. Oct. 5 the Marathon Center for the Performing Arts, located at 200 W. Main Cross St., Findlay.
