Short on members, Kenton council calls special meet to address spending measure

Kenton City Council will try again next week to pass an emergency spending ordinance after being unable to act on Monday night because of a shortage of members. Council will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 1 to take up the ordinance. In addition, it will be asked to award a contract for the first phase of the city’s downtown capital improvement project.

Dunkirk to establish fund to benefit Smith family

DUNKIRK — An emergency meeting of the Dunkirk council has been scheduled for Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. at the village offices. The purpose of the meeting, according to clerk Phyllis Spencer, is to establish a tax-free fund for the assistance of the Jerry Smith family, whose home was destroyed Friday in a truck accident.
