Kenton native to perform with Marilyn McCoo, Billy Davis Jr.

Kenton native Cydney Davis will be performing with Marilyn McCoo and Billy Davis Jr. at a concert Saturday night at Lakeside. Cydney grew up in Kenton and graduated from Kenton High School. She started singing at a young age and sang her first solo at Payne Chapel AME Church at age 12. She acknowledges her church mentors Sara and Roger Brown and Alma Whetzel who helped developed her confidence in singing and also her high school music teacher, James "JD" Smith for inspiring her to pursue her talents.

Expanded ‘Go Fly a Kite’ event set Saturday in Kenton

The spring rains forced the cancellation of the YMCA's "Go Fly A Kite” event in June, but the organization will be hoping for fair skies as it reschedules the event for Saturday afternoon. Kite enthusiasts from throughout the area will meet Saturday for the third annual event at the YMCA Corner Kick Soccer Complex, located next to the Kenton Little League fields on Ohio 292, just south of Kenton, said YMCA Program Director Frank Marsico.

Healthcare coalition developed

Hardin County now has an official healthcare coalition, comprised of various health-related agencies and individuals within the county and will provide a structure for healthcare related emergency planning. The initial organizational meeting was held Wednesday in the meeting room of the Hardin County Sheriff’s office.
