Elections board tells of plans to upgrade election security In an attempt to reduce threats of outside interference in the election system, the Ohio Secretary of State has issued some requirements which will result in changes locally. Hardin County Board of Elections member Michael Hubbell, along with Director Becky Stevenson and Deputy Director Stephanie McCullough, met with the commissioners Tuesday and reviewed the changes required. Commission helps vets The Hardin County Veterans Service Commission reports there were 13 vouchers given to area vets during July. Of that number, four were for food ($400) and nine for utilities and other expenses ($1,107.66). A total of $1,507.66 was dispersed. Read More

Car show donation The Kenton Moose Lodge held its 4th annual car show this past weekend, with proceeds from the show being donated to local emergency response units. Receiving $1,000 each from the Moose on Tuesday night were the Kenton Police Department, the Kenton Fire Department, the Hardin County Sheriff’s Office and BKP Ambulance Service. Read More
Police reports: August 14, 2019 Officers were dispatched to the 400 block of W. Carrol Street for a report of unwanted juveniles wanting to fight. Hardin Memorial Hospital requested an officer in reference to a possible assault. A report was taken of a car parked illegally in a handicap spot at Forest Court Apartments. Read More
Road to close The Hardin County Engineer’s Office announced it will be closing County Road 110 between Ohio 195 and County Road 35 in Marion Township today and Thursday for roadwork. Read More

Kenton mayor questions Cahill’s motives in raising concerns about the city Hardin County resident Russ Cahill returned to Kenton City Council on Monday night to question the lack of progress in cleaning up Waterworks Park, but his comments drew the ire of Mayor Randy Manns. Cahill said that when he appeared at the July 22 council meeting, he was told city crews would look into issues at the park. He said trash cans were full, the dugouts were full of pop cans and trash, and weeds needed to be trimmed. Read More
