Gospel Praise Gathering performance set at Kenton Full Gospel Church

TGMA Gospel Music Promotions will be presenting Gospel Praise Gathering, a group sing that will take place at 5 p.m. Sunday, July 7 at Kenton Full Gospel Church, 129 N. Wayne St. The event will feature performances from Sandi & Kaylene, One Voice, Chris Horne, Ken Ziegler, Danny Ray, Miss Amanda, Ed Ewing, Arnold Coy, Dee Runion, The Seekers and the Gospel Praise Gathering Choir.

Hay inventory severely low across Midwest

COLUMBUS, Ohio —Excessive rainfall has not only hindered soybean and corn farmers’ attempts to plant, but has contributed to a near record-low level of hay to feed livestock in Ohio and across the Midwest. The hay inventory in Ohio has dipped to the fourth lowest level in the 70 years of reporting inventory, leaving farmers struggling to find ways to keep their animals well fed, said Stan Smith, a program assistant in agriculture and natural resources for Ohio State University Extension. OSU Extension is the outreach arm of The Ohio State University College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences (CFAES).

With most area fields underwater throughout the spring and early summer, a majority of area farmers were not able to get into fields to get their corn and soybean crops planted in time to meet crop insurance deadlines. However, one thing area agriculture experts are stressing to farmers is that they should not leave their fields empty to be overrun with weeds this summer.

County eyes $800,000 project to replace all windows in the courthouse

The Hardin County Commissioners are looking to possibly replace the windows of the courthouse in the near future. During a regular session on Thursday, the commissioners learned the estimated cost of the project to replace all the windows in the courthouse would be about $800,000, according to Bruce Miller from the county’s architect Garmann-Miller of Minster.

Buck Twp. trustees reject plan for land

The Buck Township trustees on Thursday night rejected a plan to convert agricultural land into a transloading station for a local trucking firm. Without discussion, trustees Jack Fulton, Jerry Layman and Randy Scharf all voted to uphold the township zoning commission’s decision to deny a change in zoning for the 53-acre site, located just south of Kenton on Ohio 31 between Morton Buildings and Wilson Tire.

Ada board, classified staff OK 3-year contract

ADA — The Ada Board of Education approved a new three-year contract with the district’s classified staff, the Ada Classified Association (ACA), at its regular meeting Thursday night. Like the Ada Education Association agreement approved by the board in May, the ACA’s contract includes 3 percent raises annually. Both unions have ratified the tentative agreements.
