Adhere to the flag code

I understand that we all mourn and suffer when an officer (or any first responder) loses his/her life in the line of duty. It should be recognized and memorials created when appropriate. However, I being a veteran believe it to be disrespectful to all those who have served and currently serve.

Passenger trains supported

I am disappointed to read that the candidates for Hardin County commissioner do not see the value of passenger train service to our county and region, let alone to most Ohioans. On the one hand there are many positive reasons to promote such service which can improve our overall quality of life. On the other hand, as a recent ODOT survey revealed, most rural areas of Ohio are badly served by affordable public transportation.

Workplace safety praised

The Hardin County Safety Council is one of more than 80 across the state that partner with the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation to promote the importance of workplace safety. We at BWC work closely with the council and member employers in Hardin County and we are always impressed.

Don’t be careless or indifferent with vote

Former President Obama said recently that “the biggest threat to Democracy is indifference.” According to the web, Indifference is a noun meaning lack of interest, concern or sympathy. When I wake up in the morning and listen to the news, I find myself shaking my head with a visceral (deep-felt response) when attempting to make sense of our current world.
