Law enforcement officials oppose marijuana issue

During the November 3, 2015 election, Hardin County voters are being asked to consider the legalization of Marijuana (as defined in O.R.C. 2925.01(A)(A)). It is known as Issue 3. The procedure called for by Issue 3, is to amend our State Constitution to grant a monopoly to a private business enterprise, bypassing the State Legislature where most laws are passed. Myself and each of the undersigned individuals are united against Issue 3.

More truck route proposals

To the editor: I think Mr. Cahill had an excellent idea on the proposed truck route. Some years ago, I suggested the same route for a crossover both ways from Ohio 31 and U.S. 68. At that time, Mayor Ritzler informed me that the state considered the street too short for that purpose.

Reconsider traffic re-routing

In response to the Kenton Mayor’s plans to re-route traffic on Main and Detroit St., was any consideration given to the businesses on Carrol and Espy Street? If Carrol Street is made one-way west bound, this will force Huntington Bank customers to exit west only causing more congestion at the intersection.

Honoring first responders

With the recent anniversary of 9/11, I was transported back to the day when the twin towers were attacked and I can remember precisely where I was and what I was doing as I watched the second plane hit. As I watched the news footage of the attacks replayed last week, I was reminded of the bravery of the first responders as they ran towards danger with no regard to their own safety.

Vote no on proposed merger

I am writing this letter to express my thoughts on the proposed merger of Heritage Cooperative and Legacy Farmers’ Cooperative. I received my voting packet today and find that the reasons given for this merger are much the same as were given for the last merger between Champaign Landmark and Farmers’ Commission that formed Heritage Cooperative.
