Personnel action highlighted Monday’s meeting of the Kenton Board of Education. There was brief discussion of the bus garage situation, with a report from member Mark McCullough that removal of the underground fuel tank at the old garage is expected to begin the first week of June.

ADA — From applying for scholarships for Ohio State as a Ridgemont student, to becoming Ohio Northern University’s Director of Development for the Colleges of Business and Law, Dacy Wilcox has come full circle. Wilcox is in her eighth year at the position (13th overall at ONU), one she equates to what may be known as a major gift officer at other institutions.

After 10 years of providing services and support to cancer victims in Kenton, Not By Choice (NBC) is reaching out to surrounding communities. On Monday, NBC will open a satellite location in Ada’s Restore. On April 22, the new NBC Bellefontaine location will be assisting victims in the Logan County area at Union Station.

Newborn babies should never sleep with parents. They should not be placed with other children and their parents should be educated about those dangers. A new program adopted at the Kenton-Hardin Health Department is addressing those issues one case at a time.

Summer recreation efforts in Kenton are starting to take shape under the direction of two new leaders. Ryan Morgan is the city’s new recreation director, while Kaily Whitaker takes over as manager of the city’s swimming pool. Both have been hired as seasonal employees.

FOREST — Work should be starting soon on the water main project in Forest which is designed to improve water pressure to the northern portion of the business district by replacing antiquated lines. Village Administrator Wes Davis reported to council Thursday there had been eight bids received from contractors interested in the project.

MOUNT VICTORY — The Mount Victory Village Council gave its approval Thursday night for the Ridgemont Youth Summer Sports Association to use the parks this summer.

ADA — The National Council for Home Safety and Security has recognized Ada as the 16th safest city in Ohio this week. The list of Ohio’s 50 Safest Cities refers to populations of 5,000 or more. The council reviews the most recent FBI Uniform Crime Report statistics along with their own population data and internal research to formulate and rank each city.

When confronted with the news they are facing future testing and treatment for breast cancer, many women have no idea where to turn. But OhioHealth is easing some of the fears and uncertainty of the diagnosis by providing a patient navigator for the breast health program at Hardin Memorial Hospital.

MOUNT BLANCHARD — An investigation of alleged misconduct involving a former Riverdale teacher is ongoing. Fifth grade intervention specialist and junior high girls volleyball and basketball coach Brooke Rosendale, whose resignation was approved by the school board at its regular meeting on March 27, is being investigated by the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office for a report of alleged misconduct, according to Superintendent Eric Hoffman.
