Four governmental entities from Hardin County have added their online checkbooks to OhioCheckbook.com. Hardin County, the City of Kenton, Buck Township and Hardin Community Schools are the first entities from the county to post their spending on the state website, developed by the Ohio Treasurer’s office.

RIDGEWAY — An abandoned home in Ridgeway is a safety and health concern for village officials. The house, located at 114 Main St., is now the property of the State of Ohio, said Mayor Kevin Howland.

RIDGEWAY — Working with West Virginia State Police, the Hardin County Crime Task Force executed a search warrant Monday at a home in Ridgeway. Deputies sought the search warrant based on a tip from the state police in West Virginia, according to a press release from the Hardin County Sheriff’s Office.

A Kenton youth told Kenton City Council on Monday night that he would like to see designated bike lanes created on major city streets. Donoven Quail, 11, said he would like bike lanes going from local neighborhoods to school, shopping center and the movie theater.

Kenton Auditor Brian Hattery raised some financial concerns in a presentation to City Council at its meeting Monday night. Hattery noted the city started the 2016 year with a fund balance of $1,055,000. It ended with a balance of $855,000.

McGUFFEY — An Upper Scioto Valley School District resident asked the USV Board of Education to find a way to keep wind turbines off the school’s farmland during its meeting Monday. Howard Shepherd said the farmland should be used only for farming and not part of an agreement with Invenergy LLC, who plans to construct five turbines on the site later this year.

MOUNT VICTORY — By planning to install water softeners as part of its water line project but not having the funds to immediately do so, the Village of Mount Victory was found to be in violation with the Ohio EPA. Village officials now are looking at financing options to complete the project as soon as possible. During its regular meeting Thursday night, the village council heard from Village Administrator Dan Stuck, who discussed the violation.
