A report from the Ohio Department of Health released Thursday morning confirmed what law enforcement officers, drug treatment advisors and residents in the state have seen first-hand - the drug epidemic is getting deadlier each year.

For 50 years, the United Way of Hardin County has improved the quality of life for its residents. It has collected donations for scouting organizations, for the local YMCA and for several assistance organizations to make sure those in need have food and clothing.

A would-be robbery attempt was foiled Tuesday thanks to the quick response of a Kenton Kmart employee. According to the Kenton Police Department report, at 11:33 a.m., a man with gauze across his face, walked to the pharmacy department in the store and placed a gun on the counter.

The Hardin County Sheriff’s Office will be conducting a sobriety checkpoint from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. Friday, Aug. 26 to Saturday, Aug. 27 on Ohio 117 north of Roundhead. The date and location of the checkpoint are provided in accordance with state and federal laws.

An apartment complex in Kenton is complying with the Kenton-Hardin Health Department in addressing bedbug and cockroach issues. The building, located at 203 N. Main St., is owned by John and Mona Ramge.

FOREST — For some Forest residents, the war on drugs seems like a problem in the larger cities. But the officers of the local police department dispelled that myth at a town meeting Monday night at Gormley Park.
