Tip leads seizure of marijuana plants in county An anonymous telephone call led Hardin County Sheriff’s deputies to a crop of marijuana plants Monday. According to information from the sheriff’s office, the call informed officers of a marijuana plant visible from the roadway at 16722 TR 119, southwest of Kenton. Read More
Head Start gets one more year at USV McGUFFEY — At the July meeting of the Upper Scioto Valley Board of Education, it was announced the local Head Start program would be closing due to federal reductions. Two of the program’s leaders returned to USV’s board meeting this month to ask for help in keeping Head Start in the district. Read More
Catch basins in Dunkirk to be replaced DUNKIRK — Two problem catch basins on Main Street in Dunkirk have been approved for replacement. According to Dunkirk Superintendent Paul Cramer, a catch basin at Main and Summit streets and another in the 500 block of North Main Street are in poor condition and need replacing as they pose a safety hazard. Alger council concerned if workers will meet deadline ALGER — With the deadline to install water meters in the village of Alger approaching, council is demanding more work commitment from its employees to get the job completed. County’s brownfield sites to be discussed Aug. 24 The Hardin County Commissioners are sponsoring an informal meeting and workshop for the county’s U.S. EPA Brownfields Assessment Grant Program. Conservancy board is steward of Scioto River For 100 years, the Upper Scioto Drainage and Conservancy District Board of Directors has overseen the flow of the 36 miles of the Scioto River through Hardin County. Fellow officers and family pitch in for retired deputy When word went out that retired Hardin County Sheriff’s Deputy Dave Dyer needed help, it didn’t take long for his family and fellow officers to extend a hand.
