Kenton’s Logan Brown was second and Riverdale’s Eli Weber was third to pace area runners in the boys portion of the Kyle Althauser Memorial Cross Country Invitational hosted by Kenton at the Hardin County Fairgrounds on Thursday night. Brown finished in a time of 18:01.3 to place second in the 53-runner field, while Weber was right behind him in 18:03

Riverdale’s Andrew Kuenzli will be making his second appearance in three years at the Division III state golf tournament next week. The Falcon junior qualified for the tournament by shooting a 78 at Stone Ridge Golf Course to finish fifth overall at the Division III district tournament on Thursday.

CENTERVILLE — The Ben Logan Lady Raiders advanced to the state golf tournament for the second year in a row by winning the Division II district tournament at Pipestone Golf Course on Wednesday with a team score of 343. Mailiis Simovart led the team with a 79, Sydney Wesson shot an 80. Leeah Valentine carded an 89, Gabrielle Schmidt shot a 95 and Willow Titus shot at 102.

DOLA — The dangers of smoking cigarettes is well documented for many decades and in recent years some smokers or would-be smokers have turned to e-cigarettes to replace tobacco with the idea that "vaping" is safe. But those opinions are not well-founded, said Dr. Karen Kier, Ohio Northern University pharmacy professor and tobacco treatment specialist.
