The Silver Creek Sliders 4H club was well represented at the Ohio State Fair equine skillathon as Madisynn Gossard received 7th place in the 10-year-old division. Lauren Mullins received 7th place in the 11-year-old division and Weston Haudenschield received 8th place in the 8-9 year-old division.

BELLEFONTAINE — As students from the Upper Scioto Valley, Ridgemont and Kenton districts prepare to return to classes at the Ohio Hi-Point Career Center next month, their focus will be on their futures. The administration and staff will be looking to the future, also, as the work gets underway to make improvements to the buildings after the vocational school passed a levy to make those changes happen.

MOUNT VICTORY — To Beth Ramsey, the term “hero” is far too much, as she says she was just “doing the right thing” in donating one of her kidneys to her friend from church, Pam Arnold. With Pam still recovering from a hip replacement in November of 2017, the ladies of the Mount Victory United Methodist Church social group paid a visit to their friend to play some Bunko at Vancrest nursing home in Ada.

Trophy Bassmasters complete fifth tournament of season

The Trophy Bassmasters continued their 2019 fishing season with a trip southwest to Lake Loramie near Minster. Sixteen anglers competed for 8 1⁄2 hours each searching for the five biggest bass to bring to weigh in. A total of 36 keeper bass of at least 12” that weighed 57.78lbs were weighed and released. For the fifth tournament in a row, John Clark of Findlay claimed the top position. Clark had a five bass limit at 10.58 pounds for the win. Boyd Downey of Kenton finished 2nd with 9.36 pounds in five fish. Don Kraft from Alger brought in five bass totaling 7.87 pounds to finish third.
