Kenton High School held a small reception on May 9 to honor students and community members receiving Ohio High School Athletic Association awards and United States Marine Corps awards. KHS Athletic Director Joey Day presented the OHSAA awards. Staff Sergeant William Shaw presented the Marine Corps awards. Brian Blankenship, a KHS senior, signed with the United States Marine Corps.

RIDGEWAY — Through four-and-a-half innings, the bats remained mostly quiet in Friday’s Division IV sectional final softball contest between No. 5 seeded Hardin Northern and No. 4 Ridgemont.

CAREY — Carmen Conigy held on in the outfield, and so did Carey in the game. Conigy’s diving catch in foul territory in right field stopped a Riverdale rally as Blue Devils slipped past the Falcons 2-1 in a Division IV sectional final game Friday at Waterworks Park.

Terry and Linda Wuethrich are celebrating their 50th anniversary. The couple were married May 10, 1969 by Rev. Clayton Landis at Epworth United Methodist Church, Kenton. Terry is the son of the late Sid and Olive Wuethrich. Linda is the daughter of the late Walter and Lorene Sparks.

There are several in-demand jobs available at Hardin Memorial Hospital, but most require certification. Marketing Director Chris Davis said there are positions open for nurses, the cardio pulmonary unit and for lab workers.

FOREST — When a total solar eclipse takes place on April 8, 2024, Forest is expected to be at the epicenter of the natural phenomenon. Councilman Denis Phillips reported to council Thursday the center is predicted to be in the center of the village and result in total darkness for four minutes. It will bring skygazers and science enthusiasts from throughout the nation and beyond, said Phillips, and it is time for Forest to begin planning for the crowds.

ADA — Logan Hill is used to speaking in front of people. The Ohio Northern University musical theater major has spent most of her college years on stage in productions or assisting behind the curtains. On Sunday she will address the largest crowd she has yet faced playing the most difficult role of her life – herself.
