Ada selects Marshall as Distinguished Citizen ADA — The Ada community honored one of its citizens who works quietly behind the scenes to improve life it the village. Bryan Marshall is the chief financial officer and executive vice president of the Liberty National Bank, but his influence is felt in countless projects throughout the village, said Deb Curlis, during the 53rd annual Town and Gown Banquet at Ohio Northern University's Macintosh Center on Monday night. Bassmasters finish regular season The last regular club tournament of the season for the Trophy Bassmasters was held recently on their home waters of Indian Lake. The catch rates were low as only 20 bass of at least 12 inches were brought to the scales by the nine anglers after the nine-hour day. Total weight was a meager 26.55 pounds. Read More
Ada council member to step down, focus more on volunteering for Red Cross ADA — The decision for Beth Fenton to step down from her seat on the Ada Village Council at the end of this month was not an easy one to make, but it’s one she felt was necessary to be fair to the residents who elected her. In her eighth year on council, Beth has served as president for two of those years as is currently the chair of the Utilities Committee. Read More
JROTC drilling A group of JROTC students from Western Brown High School near Cincinnati perform a drill for the judges at the third annual Jacob Parrott Drill Meet Saturday at Kenton High School. Eight schools from throughout Ohio and Indiana took part in the all-day competition at the school which recognized non-shooting skills among the students. Read More
Christmas donation Deanna Wages, director of Helping Hands Outreach, accepts a $4,906 check from Jeremy Billenstein, road captain of the Trespassers motorcycle club. Wages said it is the largest donation received during the 24-year history of Helping Hands and will go toward providing Christmas presents for the needy in the community. Read More
Bay Village ends Wildcats’ season SANDUSKY — The Kenton soccer team kept the game on an even pitch early in its Division II regional championship game against Bay Village on Saturday afternoon. The Wildcats could not net an early goal though and after Bay’s Cade Gergye powered past the Kenton defense and sent the ball past Wildcat keeper Luke Woodruff nine minutes into the game, the field was tilted toward the Rockets over the final 70 minutes as they cruised to a 3-0 victory at Sandusky Perkins High School.
