Rams have goal of making it to state McGUFFEY — After making it to districts and coming up short each of the past two years, Upper Scioto Valley senior Brady Hipsher came into this golf season with a goal of qualifying for the state tournament. While he gets a shot to make that a reality on Friday when he compete in the Division III district tournament at Stone Ridge in Bowling Green, the Ram senior will have the company of his teammates on the course as the USV team also will be taking its shot at the state tournament. Longbrake’s goal is DII state golf tourney Rocco Longbrake is hoping the third time will be the charm for him when he plays in the Division II district golf tournament at Red Hawk Run in Findlay on Thursday. The Kenton High School senior, who made it to districts as a member of Kenton’s district qualifying teams in 2015 and 2017, is hoping this will be the time where he is able to finish among the top golfers in the field and earn a trip to next week’s Division II state tournament in Columbus. Lady Wildcats spiked by Shawnee in four games After a rough first set in which the Kenton volleyball team gave up 15 points in a row, the Wildcats rallied to win game two against Shawnee 25-20. However it was all Indians over the final two games as Shawnee topped the Wildcats in four games 25-12, 20-25, 25-9, 25-14 in a Western Buckeye League match on Tuesday night. Read More
Reyes, Allen lead Ada by Tiffin Columbian ADA — Chris Reyes had three goals and Jon Allen added two goals as Ada blasted Tiffin Columbian 9-1 in a non-league boys soccer matchup on Tuesday afternoon. Kappa members take winery tour Kappa Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Society International met on Sept. 22 at 10 a.m. at the White Shutter Brewery and Winery near Nevada. This vineyard is fairly new with grapevines brought from New York and planted in May, 2009, by the parents of the current owners, Jake and Kerri Thiel, who bought the business in January 2018. The business opened in 2014 and produces around 13 kinds of grapes and around 11 different wines. A tour was guided by Jen Swartz. Read More
