McGUFFEY — Perry swept Upper Scioto Valley 25-21, 25-13, 25-15 in a Northwest Central Conference volleyball match on Tuesday. Avery Sanders had 4 kills and 2 blocks to lead the Rams, while Maddy Cornell added 2 blocks.

The Hardin Northern class of 1955 met at Walnut Grove Church on Aug. 29. There were 10 classmates present with two former classmates and four spouses sharing time with the group.

Norma McCullough is recognized for her 60 years of service, many as treasurer, of the board of the Hardin County Veterans’ Memorial Clubhouse Association. Presenting the award are John Steinman (left), board vice president and Don Doll, board president.

Preschoolers at the Simon Kenton School chase bubbles from a bubble machine at the playground of the school while their grandparents watch on. Grandparents had the chance to interact with their grandchildren in the preschool and the regular classrooms at the school Monday.

Administrators outlined efforts to improve instruction of students at Kenton City Schools during the school board meeting Monday night. Jodi Cole, curriculum coordinator, said teachers and administrators are working to improve core instruction with a goal of having 80 percent of all students being successful without intervention.

The 11th annual Blue reunion for the descendants of the family of Harvey Russell and Sarah Jane (McQuown) Blue was held on Sat. Aug.11, 2018 at noon at the First Baptist Church in Kenton. A short but sweet informative business meeting was held after having a wonderful meal!

The Upper Scioto Valley class of 1968 celebrated its 50th reunion when they gathered Aug. 18 at Henry’s Restaurant, Kenton. Twenty class members attended with a total including guests of 35.

The 95th Shadley reunion was held on Aug. 19. Those attending visited a log house that was originally built in 1837 by Asaph Shadley.
