The persistence of a concerned citizen was heard by the Ohio Department of Transportation and Wednesday morning the agency agreed to install safety devices at what the community considers to be a dangerous intersection. ODOT District I Director Kurt Slusher announced his agency will install rumble strips on Ohio 273 to warn motorists of the stop sign ahead at Ohio 292, about a mile north of Ridgeway.

MOUNT VICTORY — Wind turbines and their regulations were the overwhelming topic of discussion during Wednesday’s Hardin County Farm Bureau legislative dinner at the Plaza Inn restaurant in Mount Victory. In a discussion led by Dale Arnold of the Ohio Farm Bureau set to cover wind, solar and pipeline energy issues, Hardin County representatives made clear which one was the most important to them.

When Jeff McQuown was 23 years old, he was looking for a way to supplement his farming income and applied for a job as a bus driver for Kenton City Schools. For many years, McQuown was the youngest driver in the fleet, but today he holds the record for current drivers with 31 years behind the wheel.

Nicole Hackworth’s first grade class was the winner of Hardin Northern’s Coin Wars, raising $157.32 to go to the American Cancer Society through the Kroger Crusaders Relay for Life group. The HN classes raised a total of $670.10 in the school’s fifth year participating in the fundraiser.

Hardin Hills residents and activity department staff attended the Mardi Gras-themed Senior Citizens Day at the Hardin County Fairgrounds. All had a great time with great food and entertainment and friends.

The Hardin County Council on Aging Senior Center had a housewarming party for Charlene Borski. Many people came to celebrate Charlene’s new home.

RIDGEWAY —A Ridgemont High School student is being hailed as a hero by the family whose home was destroyed by fire on Monday evening in Ridgeway. Earlier reports had indicated the family of Jason Parker was jolted awake by explosions at the house on E. Hale Street at about 10 p.m. But Parker said the explosions came much later in the evening.
