Birthday surprise

Kenton Nursing and Rehab residents celebrating a birthday in March were treated to a special surprise at the monthly birthday party when resident Kathleen Strahm’s family joined Kathleen for her birthday. The family provided cupcakes and hand-knit Easter baskets to all the residents in attendance and presented roses to the 12 residents celebrating a birthday in March.

Kenton Nursing and Rehab Center’s annual Easter egg hunt was held on Thursday, March 29, complete with a visit from the Easter bunny (Sonya Petty), refreshments, candy and prizes. The winners of the grand prize certificates were (from left) David Brayden Young, Brylee Hennison and Dakota Hale-Adkins.

DOLA — Hardin Northern used a seven-run second inning to take control on the way to a 13-3 six-inning win over Ridgemont in Northwest Central Conference softball action on Tuesday. Haylei Pees had four hits and three RBIs, Madison Robson had two hits with a double and three RBIs and Quinn Stewart-Evans contributed two singles and three RBIs to lead the Polar Bear hitting attack.

Celina rallies past Lady Wildcats

Despite taking a 7-5 lead on a two-run home run by Jenna Clum in the fourth, the Wildcats surrendered three runs in the final three innings to fall to Celina 8-7 on Tuesday evening. Along with Clum, Kenton’s Brooklyn Bays also batted in a pair of runs, doing so on two hits. Chesney Moore and Alivia Purtee also each picked up an RBI on a hit.

Celina sweeps KHS tennis

Celina defeated Kenton 5-0 in a Western Buckeye League tennis match on Tuesday afternoon. The Wildcats were most competitive in doubles play as their top pairing of Hayden Robinson and Taj Chahal was defeated by Celina’s Garrett Forlow and Schaib Saleem 6-2, 6-4.
