On Sept. 13 the Hardin Northern FFA held its annual soil invitational near Ridgeway. There were around 450 students, from 20 different schools who participated in this event, including a team from Hardin Northern.

DOLA — Members of the Hardin Northern Board of Education are not satisfied with the work being done at this point on the baseball field of the new sports complex north of the school. The $1 million project will make improvements to the existing baseball field.

Residents at Hardin Hills Health Center enjoy a meal outing at Salsa’s Restaurant in Kenton. Lunch Bunch groups go twice a month. Residents chose where they would like to go during resident council meetings.

The Hardin County Council on Aging Senior Center celebrated Grandparents Day by playing Bingo and enjoying ice cream sundaes. They also had a discussion about being grandparents.

Jim and Judi Candler of Ridgeway are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary. They were married on Saturday, Sept. 23, 1967 at the First Methodist Church in Kenton by the Rev. Virgil Hair.

Tri-Moraine Audubon Society is celebrating its 40th anniversary as a chartered chapter of the National Audubon Society beginning in June 1977. The group’s mission is “to promote the conservation and restoration of ecosystems, including agricultural systems, while focusing on the enjoyment of birds and the natural environment through fellowship, education, and stewardship for future generations.”

A quick burst of rain Tuesday morning overwhelmed the catch basins in Kenton and turned streets into rippling streams. A spot at the bottom of the hill on East Columbus Street collected the water and forced motorists to reduce their speed or spray the oncoming traffic.
