Polar Bears can’t overcome slow start

LIMA — Hardin Northern was held to nine first-half points Friday night and couldn’t rally in a Northwest Central Conference basketball contest won 54-42 by Lima Temple Christian. Temple Christian led 12-3 after the first quarter and 20-9 at halftime.

Ada topped, 60-39

SPENCERVILLE — Spencerville jumped out to an eight-point lead after the first quarter and went on to defeat Ada 60-39 in Northwest Conference boys basketball Friday night. Spencerville (7-2) led 14-6 after the first quarter, 27-18 at halftime and 44-29 after three quarters.

North Baltimore beats Falcons

MOUNT BLANCHARD — Tommy Dusseau scored 17 points and grabbed eight rebounds but the Riverdale boys basketball team fell, 52-42, against North Baltimore in a Blanchard Valley Conference game Friday. Riverdale (3-8, 0-5 BVC) won the first quarter, 14-12, before being outscored in the middle quarters, 31-13.

Kenton falls at home to St. Marys

An improved second-half shooting performance from Kenton wasn’t enough to overcome a 10-point halftime deficit as St. Marys finished off a 51-42 Western Buckeye League girls basketball win on Thursday. A 3-pointer from Ellie Miller got the Lady Wildcats off on the right foot against their WBL rival.

Defense, good start carry USV by R’mont

MOUNT VICTORY — Upper Scioto Valley used its defense to set the tone early Thursday night in a Northwest Central Conference girls basketball game against Ridgemont. The Rams (10-1) forced 12 first-quarter turnovers as they jumped out to a 19-point lead and cruised to an 81-43 victory.

Falcons dominate in win over C-R

MOUNT BLANCHARD — Riverdale defeated Cory-Rawson, 70-17, in a Blanchard Valley Conference girls basketball game Thursday. The Falcons outscored the Hornets, 27-2, in the opening quarter and took a 48-6 lead at halftime.

After slow start, HN blows out LTC girls

DOLA — After struggling in the first quarter, Hardin Northern dominated Lima Temple Christian Monday night in a 49-17 girls basketball victory. The Polar Bears (8-5) trailed 9-5 after the opening quarter, but outscored Temple Christian 44-8 the rest of the way.

Kerns, Grant set for induction in BL HOF

BELLEFONTAINE — Ben Logan will induct two new members into its Hall of Fame on Friday night. Tony Grant and Jeremiah Kerns will join the Hall of Fame in a ceremony that will take place in the gym following the junior varsity boys basketball game against Northwestern at approximately 6:45 p.m.
