DUNKIRK — There has been a lot of good-natured talk between the players on the Hardin Northern baseball and softball teams about which sport is easier and who would win if the teams played each other on the field. The two Polar Bears squads decided to settle the matter on Friday as they met on the softball field at the Dunkirk Park.

R’dale rallies for 5-4 win over Carey

TOLEDO — Riverdale overcame an early three-run deficit to defeat Carey 5-4 in a season-ending baseball game Friday at Fifth Third Field in Toledo. The Blue Devils scored three runs in the bottom of the first when Trey Bame hit a two-run triple and then scored.

BL’s Crosby, Cox move on to regionals

ST. PARIS — Benjamin Logan’s Coreen Crosby and Logan Cox are moving on to the Division II track and field regionals next week following their performances at the district competition in Graham on Thursday. Aside from the other competitors in the high jump, Crosby was also battling an illness, but she was determined not to let it get her down.

Riverdale trio has good day

FINDLAY — Things went about as well as they could have Thursday at Day 1 of a Division III Northwest District track and field meet for the Riverdale trio of Joe Lauck, Kyle Evans and Josh Hunter. They started their day by teaming with Ben Gannon to win the district title in the 3,200-meter relay.
