Rams rout Catholic Central 38-6

McGUFFEY — Upper Scioto Valley’s defense held strong against Springfield Catholic Central in Friday’s non-conference football game, giving up just one touchdown while racking up 38 points for the 38-6 victory on opening night.

Ben Logan gets off to fast start

NORTH LEWISBURG — After getting off to a fast 19-0 start in the first quarter, the Benjamin Logan Raiders allowed Triad to close back in at halftime, holding on to a 25-20 lead Friday night. The Raiders buckled down in the second half and outscored the Cardinals 25-0, opening their season with a 50-20 non-conference victory.

KHS girls tennis picks up first win of the season

LIMA — The Kenton tennis team earned its first team win of the season on Wednesday, a 5-0 victory over Lima Senior. Winning at first singles for the Wildcats was Mykaela Schriber who topped Abby Beck 6-0, 6-0. At No. 2 singles, Lily Osborn bested Lima Senior's Nevaeh Sheeter 6-3, 6-2 and in the No. 3 match, Grace Collins won over Tatiana Gaston 6-3, 6-3.

Elgin tops Lady ‘Cats in tiebreaker

LaRUE — Elgin and Kenton tied 219-219, but the Comets won a scorecard tiebreaker to defeat the Wildcats in a high school girls golf match on Wednesday. Eden Cronley fired a 47 to earn medalist honors for Kenton. Grace Hattery added a 51, Anna Longbrake a 52 and Kennedie Farthing a 69.

Gratz leads USV golf over Gophers

Upper Scioto Valley defeated Ridgemont 183-253 in a Northwest Central Conference golf match on Wednesday afternoon at Memorial Park Golf Course. Tyler Gratz shot a 42 to lead the Rams and earn match medalist honors. Also for USV, Quinn Sanders and Jared Hunt both carded 45s and Evan Lyle had a 51.
