The Kenton basketball team will get a rematch with Wapakoneta to open Division II sectional tournament play. The Wildcats, the No. 8 seed, will play Will play the No. 4 seeded Redskins at Findlay High School at 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27 in the boys basketball tournament.

The Kenton girls basketball team will get a chance to play for a sectional championship. Seeded No. 11, Kenton is slotted to play No. 3 Lima Bath for the sectional title at 8 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23 at Miller City High School.

The Kenton High School wrestling team got two wins by decision and three by forfeit to edge Shawnee 27-26 in a Western Buckeye League wrestling match on Monday night. Winning for the Wildcats were Josh Hart at 126 pounds and Mason Rhoades at 132 pounds.

HARROD — Allen East rallied from an eight point deficit to tie Kenton with 5:39 left in Saturday’s non-league boys basketball contest. The Wildcats, however, buckled down on the defensive end of the floor, outscoring the hosts 11-1 down the stretch to pull away for a 57-46 victory.

MOUNT VICTORY — Ridgemont controlled the game from start to finish on the way to a 55-37 victory over Riverdale in non-league girls basketball action on Saturday afternon. The Gophers led 13-8 after one quarter and 29-17 at halftime before outscoring the visiting Falcons 26-20 in the second half. Ridgemont, which was paced by Faith Jenkins game-high 24 points, improves to 11-9 on the season.

A pair of area swimmers qualified for this week’s Division II district meet at Bowling Green State University during sectional competition at Ayersville High School on Saturday. Ada junior Klava Katayama earned a spot for the third year in a row by winning the sectional in the 100 butterfly and 50 freestyle.

WAYNESFIELD — Kenton defeated Waynesfield-Goshen 54-41 in a non-league girls basketball game on Saturday afternoon. The Wildcats got off to a quick start, outscoring the host Tigers 13-7 in the first quarter and 11-4 in the second quarter before playing the Tigers even in the second half.

CLYDE — Noah Eikenbary wrestled his way to first place to lead Kenton to an 8th place finish in the 13-team Dale Coroll Invitational at Clyde High school on Saturday. Eikenbary pinned all four of his opponents to claim the 220-pound title and improve to 22-2 on the season.

TROTWOOD — The Ben Logan swim teams advanced three individuals to the district swim meet during Division II sectional competition at Trotwood Madison High School on Saturday. Leading the way for the Raiders was Macy Arn, who remained on track to advance to the state meet for a third consecutive year with second place efforts in the 50 and 100 freestyles.

ARCADIA — Mason Stuck hit six three-pointers and had a game-high 27 points to help Ridgemont slip past Arcadia 62-60 in a non-league basketball contest on Saturday. The Gophers led 18-8 after one quarter and 33-26 at halftime before Arcadia trimmed their lead to 43-38 after the third eight minutes.
