BUCYRUS — Andrew Kuenzli carded a 39 to lead the way as the Riverdale golf team topped Colonel Crawford 197-225 in a non-league golf match at Valley View on Wednesday. Rease Haley added a 47 for the Falcons, who carded 20 birdies on the day.

BELLEFONTAINE — The Ben Logan boys golf team shot a season-best 334 but it wasn’t enough as the Raiders fell to Graham 319-334 in the Central Buckeye Conference preseason tournament on Wednesday. Ethan Rickets’ 79 led the way for the Raiders, who fired a 319 team score.

MARION — The Marion Senior Softball Association will be holding its annual 55 and over 2018 Popcorn Tournament on Saturday, Sept. 8. It is a guaranteed 3-game tournament with playoff games to determine first and second places. The games will be played at Garfield and Kennedy Parks.

In its first match of the season at Memorial Park Golf Course in Kenton on Tuesday, the Wildcat golf team took second place to Upper Sandusky in a tri-match that also included Riverdale. A score of 168 earned the Rams the win, followed by Kenton with a 182 and Riverdale with a 204.

BELLEFONTAINE — Ben Logan won the Russ Hogue Invitational on Tuesday at Cherokee Hills with a 343. Lima Central Catholic was second with a 349, followed by Springfield Shawnee 356, Cedarville 360, Sidney 367, Northwestern 372, Indian Lake 377 and Riverside 424.

PIQUA — The Ridgemont golf team took second to Sidney Lehman in a league match at the Piqua Country Club on Monday by a score of 211 to 236. Noted individual scores for the Gophers were Carson James with a 50 and Collin Wallace with a 59.

Austen Gerlach (left) took third place in the U14 boys division (he is technically in the U12 age bracket, but competed at the higher age bracket), and Owen Haudenschield placed sixth in the U10 boys at the Ohio Elks Association State Soccer Shoot, held recently at the Kids America Sports Center in Coshocton.

ARLINGTON — Rocco Longbrake fired an 81 to place fifth overall as the Kenton golf team began the 2018 season with a third pace finish out of 12 teams at the Liberty-Benton Invitational on Monday. Peyton Roby added an 88 for the Wildcats, who finished with a team score of 366.

RUSHSYLVANIA — Bryson Tipton and Danielle Widmark took the top spots in the men’s and women’s divisions of the 14th annual Rushsylvania Rockets 5K on Saturday. Tipton was the top male runner and had the top time overall at 17:50, while Widmark completed the course in 22:03 to take the top spot among females.

In the Men's Senior League at Memorial Park Golf Course there was a three-way tie for the weekly top score by Marv Sallee, Mike Fink and Duane Davis. With Marv’s first place finish Tuesday, he moved into first place in the overall standings.
