As Thursday night’s match against Celina progressed and his team was unable to get on the scoreboard despite controlling the run of pay, Kenton soccer coach Jamie Bartlett hoped that his Wildcats would eventually wear down the visiting Bulldogs.

DOLA — The combination of seniors Gabby Weaver to Rylie Bame led the Hardin Northern volleyball team to a 25-9, 25-21, 25-18 win over Hardin County foe Upper Scioto Valley on Thursday night. Weaver had 26 assists, with half of them finished off by Bame, who ended the night with 13 kills.

St. Marys defeated Kenton 5-0 in a Western Buckeye League tennis match on Thursday afternoon. At No. 1 singles, St. Marys’ Clare Caywood bested Kenton's Mykaela Schriber 6-4, 6-4.

Kenton edged Van Wert 189-194 in a Western Buckeye League golf match at Memorial Park Golf Course on Thursday afternoon. Rocco Longbrake and Peyton Roby both carded 44s to lead the Wildcats and earn co-medalist honors.

CELINA — The Kenton volleyball team was defeated 25-15, 25-13, 25-12 in its Western Buckeye League opener at Celina on Thursday night. The Wildcats fall to 1-3 on the season.

OLD FORT — Jacob Poling had three goals as Ada defeated Old Fort 4-1 in a North Central Ohio Soccer Association match on Thursday afternoon. Skylar Williams added a goal for the Bulldogs, while Jon Allen, Issac Spar, Brendan Sheridan and William Jolliff Jr. all had an assist.

BELLEFONTAINE — Ben Logan shot its season low score as a team during a 155-189 victory over Indian Lake on Thursday. The Raiders were led by Jacob Mitchell, Garrett Allen and Ethan Ricketts, who all carded 38s.

BENTON RIDGE — Liberty-Benton edged Riverdale 2-1 in a North Central Ohio Soccer Association match on Thursday afternoon. The Falcons, who had an 8-3 shots-on-goal advantage, got their goal from Jackson Clark in the 19th minute of the game.

The Kenton Middle School eighth grade volleyball team was defeated by Upper Scioto Valley 25-16, 25-23 on Saturday. Abi Smith had 4 kills, Trayce Hendrickson had 3 aces, a kill and a block and Brylee Ramge had 4 aces, 2 assists and a block for the Wildcats.

Kenton will be looking to avoid a repeat of last year when the Wildcats host Celina in a Western Buckeye League football opener at Robinson Field on Friday night. Last year the Wildcats went into Celina looking for their first win after a heartbreaking week one loss to Coldwater, only to be steamrolled by the Bulldogs 51-21.
