ONU baseball sweeps Capital

LANCASTER — The Ohio Northern baseball team got dominating pitching performances in a 2-1, 6-0 sweep over Capital on Monday afternoon in a game played at Beavers Field in Lancaster. The Polar Bears (14-6 overall, 2-2 Ohio Athletic Conference) got a 4-hit shutout in the nightcap from sophomore Josh Mohr.

Big innings help comets pick up win over Gophers

LaRUE — Host Elgin had a pair of five-run innings on the way to a 12-0 win over Ridgemont in a Northwest Central Conference baseball game on Monday afternoon. The Comets, who improve to 5-0 on the season and 1-0 in league play, plated a run in the first before taking control with a five-run second inning.

USV softball to AE

HARROD — Allen East jumped ahead early and then held off Upper Scioto Valley for an 11-4 win in a non-conference softball game on Monday afternoon. The hosts scored three runs in the first inning and added another in the second before USV scored twice in the top of the third to get within 4-2.

R’dale, Upper Sandusky split doubleheader

UPPER SANDUSKY — Riverdale split a twinbill with Upper Sandusky on Saturday afternoon, winning game one 7-1 before dropping game two 12-0 in five innings. In game one, Jonathan Walter had a two hits with a triple and two RBIs to lead the Falcons, who plated two runs in the first and second innings before completing their scoring with three in the third.
