Juvenile cases
The following Juvenile Cases were heard in February, 2012, by Judge James S. Rapp in the Juvenile Division of the Hardin County Court of Common Pleas. Terms of probation/community control, may include: Psychological/Drug/Alcohol/Family Assessment, counseling; 9 p.m. curfew or house arrest. Court costs are assessed in all cases.

A 12-year-old female for probation violation (consuming alcohol), court ordered: 5 days detention, no contact with named individuals, 24 hours public service, fined $60, and treatment court.
An 18-year-old male, for probation violation (failure to obey), court ordered: 30 days detention, public service plan, and counseling.
A 15-year-old male, for probation violation (failure to obey parents and school officials, and missing counseling), court ordered: 15 days detention, 24 hours public service, fined $30, and counseling.
A 15-year-old male, for disorderly conduct, court ordered: 10 days detention, 16 hours public service, fined $30, and continue counseling.
An 18-year-old female, for probation violation (curfew violation), court ordered: 5 days detention, basic probation, 16 hours public service, and fined $30.
An 18-year-old female, for probation violation (truancy), court ordered: 20 days detention, 16 hour public service, and fined $30.
A 17-year-old male, for probation violation (consuming alcohol, possessing cigarettes and alcohol), court ordered: 10 days detention, 24 hours public service, fined $30, and drug/alcohol evaluation.
A 16-year-old male, for probation violation (using THC), court ordered: 10 days detention, house arrest, 16 hours public service, fined $30, and evaluation for Treatment Court.
A 16-year-old male, for curfew violation, and falsification, court ordered: 34 days detention, 24 hours public service, fined $120, and continue Treatment Court.
A 15-year-old male, for attempted illegal conveyance, court ordered: 60 days detention, 64 hours public service, fined $200, and successfully complete Treatment Court.
An 18-year-old female, for probation violation (using THC), court ordered: 16 hours public service, and fined $30.
A 15-year-old male, for truancy, court ordered: basic probation, 8 hours public service, and mental health/anger management evaluation.
An 18-year-old male, for probation violation (using THC/opiates), court ordered: 15 days detention, intensive probation, 24 hours public service, fined $30, and drug/alcohol evaluation.
A 15-year-old male, for probation violation (habitual disobedience), court ordered: basic probation, 8 hours public service, and drug/alcohol/mental health evaluation.
A 13-year-old male, for probation violation (truancy, and failure to follow counselor recommendations), court ordered: 4 days detention, intensive probation, 16 hours public service, fined $30, and mental health/lifeworks evaluation.
A 16-year-old male, for probation violation (threatening teacher), court ordered: 26 days detention, 24 hours public service, written apology to victim, fined $100, and counseling.
A 15-year-old male, for disorderly conduct, court ordered: basic probation, 24 hours public service, written apology to school authorities, fined $60, and mental health evaluation.
Traffic cases
The following traffic cases were heard in February, 2012, by Judge James S. Rapp in the Hardin County Court of Common Pleas, Juvenile Division. The maximum fine in Juvenile Court for most traffic violations is $50. Car Teens is a one evening 4-H driving safety program (fee $10). Court costs average $103 for a non-moving vehicle violation and $136 for a moving vehicle violation. Court costs are set by statue and are assessed in all cases unless otherwise noted:
Hayden W. Bradley, 16, for speeding 81/65 mph zone, and seatbelt violation/driver, court ordered: car teens, 30-day license suspension, and fined $57.
Sydney Levan, 17, for speeding 67/55 mph zone, court ordered: car teens, 45-day license suspension with school privileges, and fined $19.
Tyler D. Alberding, 17, for illegal window tint, court ordered: fined $15.
Erica D. Messenger, 17, for seatbelt violation/driver, court ordered: fined $30.
Samuel A. Baird, 17, for speeding 48/35 mph zone, court ordered: car teens, 30-day license suspension, and fined $21.
Shawn Smith, 17, for speeding 68/55 mph zone, court ordered: car teens, 45-day license suspension with school privileges, and fined $21.
Justin M. Mattson, 17, for assured clear distance ahead, court ordered: carteens, 60-day license suspension with work and school privileges, and fined $35.
Derrick S. Freshcorn, 17, for failure to control, court ordered: carteens, 60-day license suspension with work and school privileges, and fined $35.
Nicholas J. Simon, 16, for speeding 71/55 mph zone, court ordered: carteens, 30-day license suspension, and fined $27.
Caitlyn M. Holland, 17, for traffic light violation, court ordered: carteens, 45-day license suspension with school privileges, and fined $35.
Nicholas C. Sarver, 17, for speeding 80/55 mph zone, court ordered: carteens, 45-day license suspension with school privileges, and fined $50.
Adult hearings
School attendance
Krystal Altvater, failure to send child to school, was ordered: 20 hours community service, $50 fine, 8 months unsupervised probation, comply with all Ohio education laws and local district attendance rules.
Richard Clark, failure to send child to school, was ordered: 20 hours community service, $50 fine, 8 months unsupervised probation, comply with all Ohio education laws and local district attendance rules.
Child Support
Nathan Castle, failure to pay child support and failure to report proof of seeking work, first contempt, was ordered: 30-day jail sentence to commence March 5, 2012.
William Baumgardner, failure to pay child support and failure to report proof of seeking work, first contempt, was ordered: 30-day jail sentence to commence March 5, 2012; lump sum judgment $4,340.56.
Adam Bowermaster, on motion to reinstate a jail sentence, was ordered: 30-day prior jail sentence reinstated to commence March 26, 2012; lump sum judgment $9,692.20.
Jeremy Compton, failure to pay child support and failure to report proof of seeking work, first contempt, was ordered: 30-day jail sentence to commence March 26, 2012; lump sum judgment $1,357.18.
Daniel L Mabrey, failure to pay child support and failure to report proof of seeking work, first contempt, was ordered: 30-day jail sentence to commence March 26, 2012; lump sum judgment $3,141.21.
Bench warrants
Bench warrants issued for arrest of the following for failure to appear at a court hearing or failure to report to jail with amount of bond on each:
Denise Abrams – failure to appear in court, $5,928.15, bond.
Shantona Armes – failure to report to jail, no bond, 60 days in jail.
Vashawn Estis – failure to appear in court, $510.65, bond.
Melissa R Goodin – failure to report to jail, no bond, 29 days in jail.

Receipts totaling $7,586.54 were collected, and 344 hours of community service were performed in February 2012.
