ADA — Lloyd Butler, Ohio Northern University resident artist, musical director of the musical theatre program and director of the Freed Center Orchestra, will serve as guest conductor when the Lima Symphony Orchestra performs with tenor Ronan Tynan at the Niswonger Performing Arts Center of Northwest Ohio (NPAC) in Van Wert at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.
This performance is part of NPAC’s Gala V Celebration weekend, which commemorates the fifth anniversary of the opening of the center.
The weekend’s special guest is Tynan, a former member of the Irish Tenors known for his unique voice and irresistible appeal.
Butler serves as resident artist, co-director of the Musical Theatre Program, and music director of the Symphony Orchestra at Ohio Northern University. Additionally, he serves as the music director for the Ballet Theatre of Toledo Orchestra. Butler’s previous posts include the founding conductor of the Chicagoland Pops Orchestra and music director of the Lima Area Youth Orchestra.
Butler has guest conducted the Parnu City Orchestra in Parnu, Estonia; Orquesta Sinfonica and the Camerata in San Luis Potosi, Mexico; The Orquesta Sinfonietta of the Universidad Autonoma de Universidad San Luis Potosi and Orquesta Sinfonica Juvenil Julián Carillo in San Luis Potosi; The Firelands Symphony Orchestra; and the Lima Symphony Orchestra with Judy Collins. Butler is a member of the League of American Orchestras and CODA-College Orchestra Directors Association.
