Hardin County Fair Honoree: 2012

Chris Fish

Chris Fish

Chris Fish has been a longtime supporter of the Hardin County Fair. Chris was born and raised in Hardin County and while growing up was active as a 4-H member in the High Flyers and a member of the Kenton FHA. Chris volunteered for 11 years starting in 2001 with the Hardin County Junior Fair Board as an advisor. Chris met hundreds of eager and wonderful young members. Working with the Junior Fair Board members on all of their projects was something she looked forward too, both to get to know them and also to push them to learn more about themselves. Chris also worked with 4-H, FFA and FCCLA advisors to find the best Junior Fair Board members, created t-shirt and sweatshirts for Junior Fair Board members so they would be dressed appropriately, ran the Junior Fair dog show and got judges for 5 years, created the fair memory books for everyone to enjoy near the 4-H booths, helped coordinate the Junior Fair King/Queen contest and Hardin County Band show and coordinated with Junior Fair Board members working at the consignment sale food stand.
Chris and husband Bob Fish, Hardin County Senior Fair Board President started the annual Pedal Tractor Pull in 1980. Sponsoring this every year brought out over 100+ youngsters to the fair to compete for trophies and ribbons.
Chris worked as an Educational Assistant for the Hardin County ESC. She was a member of the Epworth United Methodist Church for over 50 years and was an advisor of the High Flyers 4-H group when her daughter Rachel was old enough to become a member.
Chris always worked to make the fair a more enjoyable place for families and junior fair board members. She loved working with the students every year and grew very close and fond of those members. She passed away shortly after the Hardin County Fair in 2011. Chris will be greatly missed by the Junior Fair Board members and advisors at this year’s fair. She leaves behind husband of 31 year’s Bob Fish, daughter Rachel Fish and a family who loves and misses her dearly.
