Agenda announced for hazardous waste meet

A tentative agenda has been announced for next week’s Ohio Environmental Council emergency hazardous waste training and panel discussion for Hardin County.
Hosted by the Hardin County Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC), it will run from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 26 at the Jacob Parrott Safety Center cafeteria (Hardin County Sheriff’s Office).
The training is designed for homeowners, health and safety workers, first responders, teachers, educators, farmers and other agricultural workers. This is a free program and there is room for 75 participants. A light supper will be provided by the LEPC. People can call 419-674-2392 to register.
The agenda, announced by Joe Logan, Director of Agricultural Programs for the OEC, is as follows:

  • 4:30-4:50 p.m., Registration.
  • 4:50-5 p.m. – Welcome, Introductions from Logan and Audrey Hankins from the Hardin County LEPC.
  • 5-5:40 p.m. – Dale Miller from the Durez Corporation will discuss their business’s health and safety procedures and hazardous materials handling procedures
  • 5:40-5:50 p.m. – Question and answers.
  • 5:50-6:30 p.m. – Light dinner and networking.
  • 6:30-7:15 p.m. – Panel discussion: Wes Woltz from Trupointe Cooperative and Max Perry from Heritage COOP will describe their hazardous material handling precautions and safety procedures.
  • 7:15-7:30 p.m. – Questions and answers.
  • 7:30-8 p.m. – Exercise on safe observation and reporting procedures
  • 8-8:30 p.m. – Hardin County first responders presentation on local issues and concerns.
  • 8:30 p.m. – Adjournment.
