Summer reading kickoff today at Kenton library

The Mary Lou Johnson-Hardin County District Library in Kenton is kicking off its summer reading program, “Every Hero Has a Story,” today, with sign-up from 4 to 6 p.m.

At 6 p.m. today will be magician Jeff Wawrsaszek for his show, “Every Magician Has a Story – the Magic and Heroes Library Show.”

The reading program is for kids ages 14 and under. Children may also sign up any time throughout the summer during any kids programs.

The weekly themed programs for ages 10 and under will take place Mondays through Wednesdays from 11 to 11:45 a.m. The programs are:

  • June 15-17: Every Hero Has a Story! with special guest State Sen. Cliff Hite on Monday, June 15.
  • June 22-24: Be a Hero! with special guest State Rep. Robert Sprague on Monday, June 22.
  • June 29-July 1: Heroes in our Neighborhood!
  • July 6-8: Superheroes!
  • July 13-15: Superhero Training!
  • July 20-22: Sidekicks and Villains!

Kenton City Schools is again serving free lunches to kids at the library from 12 to 12:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, from June 15 to July 23. The lunches are available to any child up to age 18.

The Scholastic “Buy 1, Get 1 Free” book fair is taking place at the library and will continue until Saturday, June 13. Times are: Tuesday, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Wednesdsay and Thursday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Friday, 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
