The Hardin County Soil and Water Conservation District is seeking candidates to run as board supervisors.
The deadline to submit petitions is July 11 and the election will take place on Aug. 15.
There are two ways people can get their name on the ballot. Any resident 18 years of age or older who resides within the county of the election can seek election to the SWCD Board of Supervisors.
1. Candidates can be nominated by the SWCD nominating committee. This committee works throughout the year looking for candidates who are interested in the conservation and protection of natural resources within the county.
2. Interested individuals may also stop at the SWCD office at 12751 Ohio 309 West, Kenton, and pick up a nomination petition form. Potential candidates need to secure at least 10 signatures from residents and/or landowners from the county and submit the petition by the close of business on July 11.
Candidates meeting the eligibility requirements and deadline will be listed on the ballot for the special election, which will take place on Aug. 15 during the district’s Annual Meeting and Customer Appreciation Day at the shelter house at the Hardin County Fairgrounds from 4:45 to 6 p.m.
People who have questions about becoming a supervisor candidate or the election can contact the district office at 419-673-0456, ext. 3.
